NOW YOU’RE READY TO MAKE CANNABIS HONEY
First, you’ll need to wrap 1/4 ounce of decarbed weed in a cheesecloth and tie with string. As you can’t strain your honey to remove the marijuana after cooking, this will keep the pieces of weed from getting into your honey.
Pour 1 1/8 cups of honey into a slow cooker, crockpot or stovetop , and add your cheesecloth of pot. (This recipe also works with maple syrup and molasses.)
Cook on low for 6-8 hours, stirring every couple of hours to move the cheesecloth around.
When finished, remove your bundle of marijuana and let cool, then squeeze to remove every last drop of honey.
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CANNABIS HONEY (CANNAHONEY)
Since not everyone has made cannabis edibles recipes with cannabis honey, it tends to come with several questions. Here are answers to a few of the most popular questions that I receive.
WILL CANNABIS HONEY WORK IN TEA?
Yes! That’s really the main reason that I make CannaHoney – to steep in my tea anytime I need a quick pick-me-up.
WILL COOKING WITH CANNABIS HONEY SMELL?
We get this question all the time. As long as you decarbed your weed properly, you shouldn’t notice an overwhelming odor when making Cannabis Honey. In fact, we noticed zero smell when making it in our crockpot.
WHICH IS BETTER – CANNABUTTER, CANNA OIL OR CANNAHONEY?
This completely depends on what recipe you’re cooking and what you’re in the mood for. While you’ll probably find that the more common cannabis edibles recipes stick with CannaButter, we find that Canna Oil is just as effective and in fact preferred for some recipes (like Cannabis Chicken Chili).
CannaHoney is fun because it is more standalone than the others in terms of needing to add additional ingredients to cut the taste of the pot. We find it to be a lot more flexible in terms of quickly adding a little “something” to make your recipe an edible.
CAN CANNAHONEY SPOIL OR MOLD?
Eventually. CannaHoney can go bad. We recommend storing it in an airtight container in a cool, dark place and use within 6 months.
CAN CANNABIS HONEY KILL A DOG?
Technically, yes. BUT it would take a LOT of weed to kill Fido. Like – a LOT of it. If you’re not using commercial-sized equipment to make your CannaHoney, then you’re probably safe – although we don’t recommend feeding it to your dog.
CAN I PUT CANNABIS HONEY IN THE MICROWAVE?
We don’t recommend making CannaHoney in the microwave (we prefer our low and slow method), but you can put it in the microwave when you’re using it in your cannabis edibles recipes.
-
How do you store canna honey?
Set a funnel on top of a jar and line it with cheesecloth. Once the honey has cooled off, pour it over the cheesecloth funnel and allow it to strain freely. (Tip: Squeezing the cheesecloth may push more bad-tasting plant material through). Storing: Honey can be stored in a cool dark area for 1-2 months.
-
How long does Canna honey last?
Store your canna–honey in a cool dark place at room temperature for a week if you are using it regularly, or in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
-
Can bees make CBD honey?
Bees can make cannabinoid honey through processing the trichomes into their honey. Some of the trichomes bees take with their pollen can also be turned into propolis.
-
Is Cannahoney real?
Many people call their marijuana products cannahoney, but CannaHoney is a US registered trademark
-
Can infused honey go bad?
Since most people consider honey to be shelf stable, they may not recognize that honey infused with fresh ingredients has the potential to spoil. Dried herbs and spices do not add excess water to infused honey. For good keeping quality, use only dry ingredients
